Dollar Tree Birdhouse Planter
I absolutely fell in love with this birdhouse planter when I came across it at the Dollar Tree! It is absolutely adorable, and I knew exactly what I wanted to use it for! I love when I find things that make instant crafting ideas pop into my head! Rather than having to sit and think of what I could make with it, the idea was just there and I couldn’t wait to get home and get it started! I hope you follow along with this Dollar Tree Birdhouse Planter and make one of your own too!
Supplies:
Dollar Tree Birdhouse Planter
Bird Napkin
Sage Green and White Paint
Antique Wax
Spanish Moss
Greenery and Small Flowers
Home Chipboard – Tim Holtz
First, I used the white paint on the backing of the birdhouse and the sage green along the roof, and the planter.
Second, I lined up the bird napkin to make it look as if he was sitting above the opening to the birdhouse. I then used Mod Podge to glue it down, and trimmed off the excess.
Third, I used another section of the napkin with a bird on it and lined him up to look as if he was looking up at the first bird. I then Mod Podged him down and cut off the excess.
Fourth, I lightly sanded around all of the edges of the birdhouse planter.
Fifth, I used Antique Wax around all of the edges including the birdhouse opening. I then filled the planter with Spanish Moss.
Sixth, I inserted some greenery and small flowers into the Spanish Moss.
Finally, I hot glued the “Home” clipboard from Tim Holtz onto the front of the planter.
Here is the final result, how do you think it turned out? I couldn’t be happier, it came out exactly how I envisioned it would. When ideas like this come to me and I find the perfect items to make it come to life, I just have to get it done!
