Thrifted Patriotic Birdhouse Trio
I love when I find amazing items at the thrift stores. They always seem to have at least one thing I know I can craft into a beautiful project, but most times I come out with many! When I find thrift store goodies and can combine them with my patriotic theme it makes me even happier. I found this birdhouse trio on my last forage through the local thrift store and turned it into this beautiful Thrifted Patriotic Birdhouse Trio! I hope you love it as much as I did making it!
Supplies:
Thrifted Birdhouse Trio
Paints- Red, White, Blue and Burnt Umber
Antique Wax
Spanish Moss
Star Stencils
Grapevine
First, I removed all of the nesting from the hole. I then taped off the tops of the smaller two birdhouse and painted them with the deep midnight blue paint.
Second, I readjusted the tape lines on the smaller two birdhouses, and painted the bottom of them with the almondine paint. Here I also removed the branching and staples.
Third, I painted half of the larger birdhouse with the deep burgundy paint and the other half with the almondine. I then painted alternating stripes with the deep burgundy on the two smaller birdhouses.
Fourth, I used my star stencils with the deep midnight blue paint to place stars over the holes in the largest birdhouse.
Fifth, I used my circular star stencil with the almondine paint to stencils stars around the hole on the second largest birdhouse.
Sixth, I used another of my star stencils with the almondine paint and covered the blue area of the smallest birdhouse with stars.
Seventh, I used the burnt umber paint mixed with a little water to create the consistency I wanted and outlined each of the stripes with it. I then add some Antique Wax to each birdhouse.
Eighth, I filled each of the birdhouse holes with Spanish Moss.
Finally, I stapled on a bunch of grapevine, weaving it around from top to bottom.
Here it is all finished, how do you think it turned out? I couldn’t be happier with the way this thrift store find transformed into this beautiful Thrifted Patriotic Birdhouse Trio! This craft project turned out amazing! I love taking something someone else no longer had a use for and turning it into my own beautiful creation.
