DIY Wooden Slat Flag

Patriotic crafts are definitely one of my more favorite projects to make, and usually they’re some type of flag for me. I got some of these wooden slats from my local Dollar Tree, because I knew they would be perfect for this project. I’ve had the idea for this project for months, and couldn’t wait to get started on it. Come check out this DIY Wooden Slat Flag.

Supplies:

3 Dollar Tree Wooden Slats
Rusty Wire
Rusty Star
Paints- Almondine, Deep Burgundy, Deep Midnight Blue
Dark Walnut Stain

First, I placed the wooden slats together and then I cut up a paint stirrer. I glued those cut up pieces to the wooden slats to give them stability.

Second, I taped off the top section of the wooden slats, and then painted it with the Deep Midnight Blue Paint.

Third, I painted the two outside slats at the bottom with the Deep Burgundy Paint. I then painted the center slat with the Almondine Paint.

Fourth I drilled two small holes into the top corners of the flag.

Fifth, I glued the rusty star to the blue section of the flag.

Sixth, I threaded the rusty wire through the two drilled holes, twisting the ends to secure them, creating a hanger.

Finally, I gave the whole flag a coating of the Dark Walnut Stain.

Here it is all finished, how do you think it turned out? I couldn’t be happier with this project, it came out amazing and was so much fun to make. I needed very little for supplies, and it still came out beautifully! This will be a huge hit and I can’t wait to get it into my store. I hope you give this DIY Wooden Slat Flag a try too!
