DIY Apothecary Chest Makeover

I found this chest of drawers at my local thrift store for a steal, and couldn’t wait to put my imagination to work to make it something beautiful. I knew I wanted to make it into an apothecary style chest. I couldn’t get it started fast enough, and I love how it turned out! I hope you enjoy this DIY Apothecary Chest Makeover and give something like it a try too!

Thrifted Chest of Drawers

Chalk Paints – Black and Sage

Antique Style Label Pull Handles – Amazon

Number Stamps

Small Drill Bit

Spackling or Wood Filler

First, I took off the knobs on the drawers and filled the holes in with spackling.

Second, I lightly sanded off the extra spackling.

Third, I painted all of the drawers as well as the chest with the black chalk paint.

Fourth, I then used the sage chalk paint and went over all of the drawers and chest with that as well.

Fifth, I centered the new handles from Amazon onto the drawers and drilled out the new holes that will secure them on.

Sixth, I lightly sanded around the edges of the drawers and around the chest as well.

Seventh, I secured the new handles to the front of the drawers.

Finally, I stamped each of the drawers with the number stamps.

Here it is all finished, how do you think it turned out? I couldn’t be happier with it. When I find something that could easily be turned back into something beautiful at the thrift store, literally nothing could make me happier! I can’t wait to bring this DIY Apothecary Chest Makeover project to my new craft booth!

As many of you know I have rented a new booth space in a local shop here in New England and have started creating for my booth. I will be sharing my creations on my blog and on my social media. We can talk about what sold and what didn’t. Also, what is working and what is not and talking about my adventures with my new booth!  I have previously had a booth for 15 years in a different location and while I did well it just wasn’t a fit for me any more. I am excited to see where my new journey takes me and hoping to share my knowledge along the way!
