I’ve mentioned before how much I enjoy decorating my hutch no matter the holiday or season. Now that Valentines Day has passed I’ve begun putting some odds and ends up for Spring. I saw this cute little bird house at Walmart and knew I could make something super cute to add to my hutch. Follow along with me for a DIY Birdhouse Shelf Sitter.

Supplies:

Birdhouse- Walmart

Home Cutout- Walmart

Scrapbook Paper- Hobby Lobby

Mini Bird & Flower- Dollar Tree

Mini Jenga Block- Dollar Tree

Paints- Antique White, Pink & Green

Brown Wax

Start out by painting the roof of your birdhouse with antique white and the house itself with green. If other colors fit into your decor feel free to mix and match. I like how the cool colors go with the other items on my hutch.

Next cut out your scrap book paper to fit the house part of the birdhouse. Attach this to the house using Mod Podge.

Now take your home sign and paint over it with your pink paint.

Once the paint on the home sign has dried attach it to the front bottom of the house using some hot glue.

Finally I painted my wooden bird with the pink and paint and hot glued it right by the hole of the birdhouse. I also added a small wooden flower to the center of the home sign also using hot glue to attach. I painted the flower with some white paint. Add the brown wax lightly over all the outer edges of the home sign. Lastly add the mini Jenga block to the back of the house to help it stand up this was attached with hot glue.

This came out so cute and I really enjoyed making it. This could be a great project to do with the kiddos and you could let their imaginations run wild. I love the Spring vibe that this project has and cannot wait to add it to my hutch theme. Do you think you will make a DIY Birdhouse Shelf Sitter?
