DIY Bunny Makeover

When I found this old bunny at the thrift store on one of my last trips through, I had to have him! I knew I could turn him into something amazing, and couldn’t wait to get him home to get started. When I find items that someone no longer wanted, or felt it were no longer any good for them, I get so excited for what I can make with them! Craft ideas come to me all the time, and when I look at something and an idea pops into my head of how something could be made with that item, I can’t wait to start on it! I hope you enjoy this DIY Bunny Makeover as much as I like creating it!

Thrifted Bunny
Lace Ribbon
Spanish Moss
Antique Wax

First, I painted the entire bunny with white paint.

Second, I used the Antique Wax and covered the base of the bunny and also the outside edges and the back of him.

Third, I lightly sanded the edges of the bunny.

Fourth, I used more of the Antique Wax and went along the edge of the bunny front with it.

Fifth, at the last minute I decided to pivot. Like most crafters know, sometimes ideas change mid craft and you just roll with it. In this case I decided I no longer wanted to have the bunny tail on there and cut it off. I then went over that spot with the white paint.

Sixth, I hot glued some of the Spanish Moss around the whole base of the bunny.

Seventh, I threaded some of the greenery throughout the Spanish Moss.

Eighth, I weaved a couple of the florals through the Spanish Moss and greenery.

Finally, I cut a piece of the lace ribbon and tied a bow with it around the bunnies neck.

Here he is all finished, how do you think it turned out? This project came out so much better than I envisioned it would! This DIY Bunny Makeover was such a fun craft to put together, and he has so much life to him now. I took him from dull and boring to full of spirit! I can’t wait to get him into my craft booth for all to see him! I hope you enjoyed this DIY and give one a try too!
