DIY Cardinal Christmas Ornament

It’s that time of year again, and I absolutely can’t wait to get my creative juices flowing with all the ideas I have for Christmas crafts! I absolutely love Christmas time and what better way to get into the holiday spirit than making some Christmas ornaments? I hope you like this DIY Cardinal Christmas Ornament I came up with and give one a try too!

Mason Jar Lid

Cardboard

Scrapbook Paper

Silver Ribbon

Greenery

Silver Tinsel Stem

Glitter

First, I traced the mason jar lid onto the cardboard and then cut out the circle.

Second, I traced the cutout circle piece of cardboard onto the scrapbook paper and cut that out. Then I used Mod Podge to secure the scrapbook paper to the cardboard.

Third, I painted the backside of the cardboard circle and the lid of the mason jar with Burgundy paint.

Fourth, I covered the lid with Mod Podge and then added glitter while it was still wet.

Fifth, I used the cardinal from the rub on transfer sheet and put it onto the center of the scrapbook paper side of my cutout.

Sixth, I placed the circle cutout into the mason jar lid and then used hot glue to add the ring of silver tinsel stem around the edge.

Seventh, I made a small hole into the side of the lid at the top and added a length of the silver ribbon to use as the hanger.

Finally, I made a big bow out of the silver ribbon and along with a piece of greenery hot glued it to the outside top of the mason jar lid.

What do you think of how the final project turned out? I think it came out better than I ever imagined it would. This DIY Cardinal Christmas Ornament was so much fun to make and was rather simple to put together. I love to use old items I find and bring them back to life to make something brand new!
