DIY Dollar Tree Rustic Christmas Tree
I love making crafts for Christmas time! Christmas is such a fun and happy time of year, and I have so, so many ideas spinning in my head for different craft ideas! When I found this candy corn banner at Dollar Tree, I wasn’t quite sure what I would make with it, but I grabbed it regardless and I’m glad I did. I happened to be on Facebook and my friend Summer with Hammons Nest made a candy corn tree out of them and I knew I HAD to make one! I’m so excited for you to follow along and hopefully give this craft project a try for yourselves!
Supplies:
Dollar Tree Candy Corn Banner
Terra Cotta Pot
White and Green Paint
Floral Foam
Spanish Moss
Rusty Bells and Star
Ribbon
First, I glued two of the pieces of the candy corn banner back to back. I left a small opening in the bottom to accommodate the dowel later on.
Second, I painted the entire piece with the Green paint.
Third, I placed a piece of the floral foam into the terra cotta pot after I painted it White. I then added the dowel into the foam, using hot glue to keep it secure.
Fourth, I placed the glued pieces of the banner over the dowel where I left the small opening.
Fifth, I hot glued the rusty bells and the star onto the tree. I then added some Spanish Moss around the base of the tree.
Finally, I cut two pieces of ribbon, one slightly larger than the first, forming them into bows and securing them with a small piece of twine. I then hot glued them to the base of the tree. I then used Antique Wax to give a light coating to the terra cotta pot.
Here it is all finished, how do you think it turned out? I love the simplicity of this project, and how it still brings so much Christmas spirit just looking at it. This project was such a blast to make, and could go in so many different directions if you chose to do it differently!
