DIY Dollar Tree Winter Hat Decor

It’s Christmas Time again, and here I am with more of my holiday crafts! When I found this Dollar Tree sign, I didn’t see the sign, when I looked at the shape I envisioned a winter hat. I had so many ideas of what to turn it into and in the end came up with this DIY Dollar Tree Winter Hat Decor! I hope you like it and can give one a try too!

Dollar Tree Sign
Thrifted Sweater –
Antique White Paint
Mod Podge
Let it Snow cut out – Dollar Tree
Snowflake – Hobby Lobby
Antique Wax
Yarn- to match and make a pompom, or just a pompom that matches.

First, I removed silver tag from the sign and then painted the entire thing with the Antique white paint.

Second, I measured and cut from the body of the thrifted sweater I found and covered the top of the hat with it, gluing it on with Mod Podge.

Third, I used the bottom band of the sweater to make the cuff of the hat. I decided using this part of the sweater for this section made the most sense since it had a slightly different pattern.

Fourth, I cut a length of twine and hot glued it around the entire hat.

Fifth, I used the yarn wrapping it around a piece of cardboard until I got the size I wanted then tied it off. I then cut the cut the loops it created making the pom. I then trimmed any excess making it even looking. Once that was done I attached it to the top of the hat.

Sixth, I used the Antique Wax and painted the “Let it Snow’ and the snowflake.

Finally, I glued the “Let it Snow’ and the snowflake onto the hat.

Here is the final result, how do you think it turned out? I couldn’t be happier with the result, I absolutely love how it turned out! It’s the perfect display piece for the holiday season, and I love the warmth of how the hat feels! I think I may try and cut my own piece of wood this size and shape and try another with some different designed material! Do you think you may give this DIY Dollar Tree Winter Hat Decor a try too?
