DIY Hanging Heart Valentine Picture

I was at Dollar Tree the other day, (OK maybe I have a slight addiction LOL) and I found these cute little mini hearts. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to do with them at that moment, but I grabbed them and let my imagination choose for me. Follow along with me for this DIY Hanging Heart Valentine Picture.

Dollar Tree Frame

Dollar Tree Mini Hearts

Scrapbook Paper

Ribbon Scraps

Antique White Paint

Brown Wax

Start off by covering the beads that are on the string with the brown wax. I placed a piece of paper down so that the beads could dry without getting the wax on the frame.

Once the beads were completely dry, I covered the inside of the frame with the antique white paint. Make sure to fully cover the inside of the frame.

Now take three of your wooden hearts and trace them onto your scrapbook paper. Once you have them traced go ahead and cut them out.

Take your scrapbook paper and add it to your hearts using Mod Podge to hold it in place. Now use some twine to add hangers to your hearts, attach the twine in a loop with some hot glue on the back of the hearts. Loop the hearts through the string holding the beads on the frame.

Add a piece of ribbon scrap to the center heart, also add one to the top of the frame above the hearts. I put a little rose on the center heart to make it stand out a little more. All of this was attached with hot glue.

I attached a small piece of ripped muslin over the scrap on the top of the frame and added the word LOVE with some small letter stamps I have.

Finally I added some mini ribbon roses to the other two hearts.

This came out so super cute, I love the rustic look that it has to it. It was very inexpensive and easy to make, it honestly came out better than the picture that I had in my head. One of my favorite things about this project is that you can display it all year long not just for Valentines Day. Do you think you will make a DIY Hanging Heart Valentine Picture?
