DIY Patriotic Book
I absolutely love anything patriotic, and I love even more making my own patriotic crafts! When I found this chipboard Halloween book at my local Dollar Tree, I had grabbed it thinking I would eventually make something with it! One night while I was cleaning out my craft room, I ended up pulling out things I wanted to use on my next project and came up with this idea for this DIY Patriotic Book while doing that. I hope you love this craft project and decide you want to make one too!
Supplies:
Dollar Tree Chipboard Halloween Book
Paints – Red, White, Blue and Burnt Umber
Star Stencil
Number Stencil
Antique Wax
Muslin – Coffee Dyed
Sweet Annie
Rusty Pin and Bell
First, I painted the top portion of the book with the deep midnight blue paint, leaving a slightly larger section on the bottom unpainted.
Second, I painted the bottom section of the book with the almondine paint.
Third, I painted alternating stripes with the deep burgundy paint.
Fourth, I used my star stencil with the almondine paint to stencil on this star circle on the blue section.
Fifth, I used my number stencils to stencil on the 1776, again with the almondine paint.
Sixth, I mixed some burnt umber paint to get it just how I wanted it and painted lines in between each stripe.
Seventh, I gave the whole thing a light coating with the Antique Wax.
Finally, I took the coffee dyed muslin and tied it around the book into a bow securing the sweet Annie in it. I then secured the rusty bell to the bow using the rusty pin.
Here it is all finished, how do you like the final project? Like I said I love anything patriotic, but I think this is one of my favorites that I’ve made so far this year! I didn’t need very many supplies, and I had just about everything on hand to make this DIY Patriotic Book come to life. I couldn’t be happier with the was this project turned out, and can’t wait to get it into my craft booth! So what do you think, will you give this one a try for yourselves?
