I love adding farm animals to my decor, especially in the kitchen. It gives it a cute little rustic feel and makes me feel like I’m a real country girl lol. This sign is small enough that you can hang it almost anywhere. Follow along with me for a DIY Rustic Farmhouse Sign.

Supplies:

Wooden Sign- Family Dollar

Burlap

Coffee Dyed Muslin

Antique Wax

Antique White Paint, Black Paint

4 Half Wood Beads

Farmhouse Stacked Animal Stencil – Hobby Lobby

Fabric & Ribbon

Button

First start by painting the wooden sign with your antique white paint. After the paint has fully dried go over it with your antique wax and lightly wipe off with a cloth to give it a distressed look. Then cut your burlap to fit the wooden sign and attach it with Mod Podge

Next take your farmhouse stencil and place it on top of your coffee dyed muslin and use your black paint to fill it in. Once the paint dries add the muslin to the sign on top of the burlap using Mod Podge.

Next after you have painted your half wooden beads and let them dry attach them to the corners of the sign. I placed mine in the corners of the muslin and secured them with hot glue.

Finally using your fabric and ribbon go ahead and make an “X” bow. This will be placed at the top of the sign in the center and attached with hot glue. Then place your button in the center of the bow and also attach with hot glue.

I absolutely love how this came out, one of my favorite things about it is that you don’t just have to use it for Spring. This is for sure a year round decoration. It would look super cute in a kitchen, bathroom or even an entry way. Do you think you will make a DIY Rustic Farmhouse Sign?
