DIY Rustic Wood Flag

I love this time of year, when the Fourth of July comes closer! Making my patriotic crafts always brings me joy, and I can’t wait to display them! Whenever I come across scraps of wood, I always save them. There’s always something I can make with scrap wood, and this DIY Rustic Wood Flag is one of my absolute favorites! Come check it out, I think you’ll love it too!

Supplies:

Scrap Wood Board
Wooden Star
Rusty Wire
Paint – Almondine, Deep Midnight Blue, Deep Burgundy

First, I painted the star with the Almondine paint.

Second, I taped off one end of the scrap wood into a square and painted it with the Deep Midnight Blue paint.

Third, I taped off the painted square, and two sections down the length of the wood. I then painted the blank areas with the Deep Burgundy paint.

Fourth, I repeated the taping steps, and painted the blank spots with the Almondine paint.

Fifth, I drilled two small holes into the blue end of the wood, and threaded rusty wire through the holes. I spun them around to prevent them from coming back through the holes, creating a hanger.

Sixth, I glued the star to the center of the blue section.

Seventh, I lightly sanded over the whole flag.

Finally, I gave the whole flag a coating of the Antique Wax.

Here it is all finished, how do you like it? I love my Patriotic craft projects, they’re some of my favorites to make! Usually, I always make them have the rustic look, I love how they come out that way, but that’s my preference! I can’t wait to get this DIY Rustic Wood Flag into my store, I think it will be a huge hit. I may end up having to make a couple of these depending on how fast it goes! Do you think you’ll be giving one of these a go too?
