I know I for sure have had enough of the snow and cold weather. Now that Spring is here let’s get these warm weather crafts put together. One of the first things that comes to mind for me when I think of Spring is birds. I know how much I love hearing those little tweets once that nice weather gets here. Let’s check out this DIY Spring Nest and Bird.

Supplies:
Candle Stick- Dollar Tree
Plastic Mini Plate- Dollar Tree
Grapevine
Moss
Greenery
Bird- Dollar General
Paint
Brown Antique Wax

We are going to start off by painting both the plastic mini plate and the bird with black paint. Make sure to fully cover and if necessary use two coats.

After the paint on the candle stick fully dries we are going to attach the plastic mini plate. I used a mixture of hot glue and e6000.

Next I covered the candle stick with some grayish paint that I had on hand. Once the paint dried I went over it with brown wax to give it an aged and antiqued look.

Now take your bird and cover it with spackle. Smooth out around the shape of the bird with your fingers, discard any excess. Set the bird aside to dry for 24 hours.

After you let the bird dry for 24 hours, go ahead and give it a quick sand. Next add some more spackle, smooth it with your fingers and some water and let dry again. Then go ahead and give the bird a final sand and add a coat of white paint. After the white paint dries add some brown wax to give it the same look as the candle stick.

Next I cut the grapevine to fit the plate and added some greenery using a small amount of hot glue.

Next attach the grapevine to the plate again using hot glue, once attached fill in with some moss.

Finally add your bird to the center off the nest, you can secure it using a small amount of hot glue.

This project came out amazing!! I know that it will look so amazing sitting on a hutch or even as a centerpiece on a dining table. Hopefully this little bird will bring the warm weather with him. Do you think you will make a DIY Spring Nest and Bird.
