DIY Sunflower American Flag
It’s that time of year again, where I get into my patriotic crafting! Last year I did a video with an American flag and sunflowers from Dollar Tree, many of you weren’t able to get the sunflower wall decal. I decided to work with creator friends of mine Pickitz Crafts and Homestead Crafter DIY create this kit to replicate last year’s sunflower flag! I couldn’t be more excited than to be sharing it with you and knowing you can get this kit and make your own! The link to the kit will be in the supplies list! Glue – Wood and Hot Glue
These are the paints I used for this project.
First, I removed the star, I was not using it in this project. I then painted the star end of the flag with the Deep Midnight Blue paint.
Second, I painted the stripes alternately with the Deep Burgundy and the Almondine paints.
Third, I painted the sunflower heads with the sunset gold paint. I then painted the stems with the avocado dip paint.
Fourth, I used Antique Wax on both center pieces of the sunflowers. Once dry I used wood glue as well as hot glue to secure them in place.
Fifth, I once again used the wood glue and hot glue to secure both of the sunflowers onto the flag.
Sixth, I created two small holes at the top of the flag and used a length of twine to create a hanger.
Finally, I cut lengths of twine creating a couple double bows. I then hot glued a bow to each of the sunflowers.
Here it is all finished, how do you think the final project came out? I am absolutely in love with this DIY Sunflower American Flag! I’m so happy I found the flag kit, and that I was able to turn it into exactly what I wanted it to be! I love anything patriotic, and this flag just screams that to me! I can’t wait to get this into my craft booth on my next restocking run!
