When I find items at the thrift stores that pique my interest for a certain craft, I get so excited! I found this shovel and couldn’t wait to get home and bring my idea to life! Christmas is a blast to make crafts for and when I got the idea to turn this old thrifted shovel into this DIY Thrifted Christmas Shovel I couldn’t have been any more excited! I hope you enjoy this DIY and give one a try too!
Thrifted Wooden Shovel
Paint- Black, Blue and Burgundy
First, I took the Christmas card and lined it up with the top of the shovel blade. I then used a razor knife to cut out along the handle so the card would lay flat around it. Once that was done I folded the sides over and cut off the excess. I then set the card aside.
Second, I painted the entire spade of the shovel with the blue paint.
Third, I painted the entire handle of the shovel black.
Fourth, I used Mod Podge to secure the Christmas card down onto the spade of the shovel. I then added faux snow along the bottom of the card.
Finally, I painted the screws at the bottom of the handle with burgundy paint and then tied a festive ribbon around it.
Here it is all finished, how do you think the final result turned out? I am absolutely in love with this project, and couldn’t be happier with the way it came together! You could really put this anywhere you chose and it would be amazing! I love when you can take something so simple as an old shovel that someone didn’t want anymore and make something beautifully new out of it! I hope you enjoyed this DIY Thrifted Christmas Shovel and are able to give yourself a shot at making one too! Merry Christmas!
