DIY Thrifted Valentine House
I found this old worn wooden house on my last trip into my local thrift store! I had a cute idea in my head. Once I purchased it, I went home, got all the supplies I was going to need to make this project and got to work! This project is geared for Valentine’s Day, but I think you could use it year round! Follow along, you will not be disappointed in this DIY Thrifted Valentine House!
Supplies:
Thrifted House
Paints- Red, Black and White
Wire
Craft Stick
Mini Heart
Scrapbook Paper
First, I painted the house and the chimney with the White paint. I then painted the roof with the Black paint.
Second, I used my block stencil with the Red paint I stenciled the brick look around the chimney.
Third, I traced the sides, and ends of the house onto scrapbook paper and then cut them out.
Fourth, I glued the large sides of the scrapbook paper to the sides of the house.
Fifth, I glued the scrapbook paper to the ends of the house and then trimmed off all the excess.
Sixth, I took a large craft stick and cut off a large portion of the rounded end.
Seventh, I painted the cut piece of the craft stick with the Black paint.
Eighth, I glued the craft stick end to the center of the house, to create a door.
Ninth, I painted the heart with the Red paint. Once that was dry I glued it to the door.
Tenth, I drilled a small hole into the top of the chimney.
Finally, I cut a length of wire, formed it into a heart making sure the end was long enough to fit inside the drilled chimney hole. I painted it Red and then inserted it into the chimney.
Here it is all finished, what do you think, do you like how it turned out? I am so happy I found this house at my local thrift store, and the vision I had for it turned out amazing!
