These roosters at Dollar Tree are so cute! I knew I wanted to do something with it but wasn’t sure what exactly. Finally, I came up with an idea and it was inspired by Pioneer Woman, all her stuff is so fun and colorful! So, I decided to try to capture that in this project. It turned out so good and is really a super fun piece and reflected the look I was going for!
Come follow along as I make this Dollar Tree Pioneer Woman Inspired Chicken!

SUPPLIES:
Dollar Tree Chicken
Pioneer Woman Fabric – Walmart
White Paint
Antique Wax
Greenery & Flowers
Mod Podge

First, I painted the chicken white. This doesn’t have to be several coats, just enough to remove some of the black. We will be covering it and you don’t want the black showing through.

Second, apply a good thick coat of Mod Podge. Once it is covered take your fabric and lay it over the rooster. Be sure it is attached well around all the edges. Allow to dry.

Third, once it was dry cut off the excess fabric and then add another coat of Mod Podge on top of the fabric and let that dry. Once it was all dry, I used an Exacto knife to cut around all the edges.

Fourth, use sandpaper to sand the edges. If needed to get in the smaller areas use a nail file, they work great for that.

Fifth, I took my antique wax and covered the stand with it. It was already dark wood, I wanted it darker.

Finally, I added some greenery and flowers to the bottom. That’s it, all done!

How SUPER cute did she turn out?! I love it!! I was thinking of maybe adding some pearls to her neck, I haven’t decided yet. What do you think? Pearls or no pearls?
