Dollar Tree Squirrel Acorn

I love when Fall rolls around. The amazing color changes and the cooler temps, and being cozy cuddled up with a nice blanket! This craft definitely gives me that warm Fall feel. I found this acorn at my local Dollar Tree and the perfect craft idea came to me, so I scooped it up and went home and got started! Come check out this Dollar Tree Squirrel Acorn, I think you’ll love it!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree Acorn

Dollar Tree Tile

Printable – My Shop

Antique Wax

Raffia

Fall Style Ribbons

Faux Leaves

Fall Paint Colors- Orange, Yellows, Maroon, Burnt Umber and Buttermilk

First, I painted the bottom half buttermilk and then I gave the bottom portion of the acorn a good coating of Mod Podge.

Second, I laid the squirrel printable on the center of the acorn. I then cut off all the excess.

Third, I cut out the center portion of the tile.

Fourth, I covered the entire acorn shaped tile with the Burnt Umber Paint.

Fifth, I took the Orange, Yellows, and Maroons and sponged them over the Burnt Umber, overlapping until I got the desired coloring I was aiming for. I then gave the whole thing a coating of the Antique Wax to tone down the colors.

Sixth, I glued the painted tile to the squirrel covered acorn.

Seventh, I took a large length of twine and wrapped it a few times around the top of the acorn.

Eighth, I cut some Raffia, all the same lengths, along with some Fall style ribbons and made a messy bow. I then gathered some faux leaves and glued them to the top of the acorn.

Ninth, I took the white lace ribbon, tied a bow and glued it to the bundle of Raffia and ribbons.

Finally, I tied a length of ribbon through the hole at the top of the acorn for a hanger.

Here it is all finished, how do you think it turned out? I love this craft project, it came out exactly as I imagined it would! I love how all the colors mixed together give the acorn that warm Fall feel! What really makes it pop is also the Fall bow I created. I can’t wait to get this into the store, this one won’t last long. I’m thinking I may need to make a couple more to give to family too! Do you think you’ll give this Dollar Tree Squirrel Acorn a try?
