Hobby Lobby Patriotic Standing Angel Makeover

I love this time of year when I can start in on my patriotic craft projects. When I found this angel at Hobby Lobby (I believe on clearance at Christmas) I knew I wanted to make something patriotic with it. After I got it home and into my craft room I sat for a few and contemplated many ideas which I thought would work. I ended up deciding that this Hobby Lobby Patriotic Standing Angel Makeover was what I wanted to go with. I hope you enjoy this DIY as much as I did making it and decide you might want to give one a try for yourselves!

Hobby Lobby Angel
Paints- Deep Burgundy, Deep Midnight Blue, Almondine
Star Stencil
Rusty Wire

First, I painted the head of the angel with the almondine paint.

Second, I painted the upper half of the angel body with the deep midnight blue paint.

Third, I tapped off a stripe down the rest of the angel body so that I could do the red and white stripes. I then painted the first and third stripes with the deep burgundy paint.

Fourth, I painted the two remaining stripes with the almondine paint.

Fifth, I painted the standing base of the angel with the deep midnight blue paint.

Sixth, I used a star stencil I had on hand to add stars to the top blue portion of the angel using the almondine paint.

Seventh, I used the rusty wire pieces I cut and twisted and stuck them into the angel head.

Finally, I cut a large length of twine and tied it into a bow around the angels’ neck.

Here it is all finished, how do you think this Hobby Lobby Patriotic Standing Angel Makeover turned out? I couldn’t be happier with the final result, and I am glad that this was the direction I decided to go. Some of the other ideas I had would have been great too, but I’m extremely happy with this one! I had a blast making it and I’m hoping that decide you’d like to give one a shot too! You can never have to much patriotic decor!
