Patriotic Flag Shovel
I’ve had so many people asking for patriotic crafts lately, so I’m trying to get as many done as I can. I love making them so this is definitely no hardship for me! I found this old broken shovel and the idea for this Patriotic Flag Shovel came to me as soon as I looked at it! Follow along, you will definitely not be disappointed!

Supplies:
Old Broken Shovel
Acrylic Paints- Almondine, Deep Burgundy, Deep Midnight Blue
Strip of Muslin
Rusty Bell and Pin
Stain- Dark Walnut

First, I used chalk to mark the top section of the shovel. I then painted that section with the Deep Midnight Blue Paint.

Second, I free handed alternating stripes of the Deep Burgundy, and Almondine Paints.

Third, I used a Star and 1776 stencil I had on hand. I stenciled it on with the Almondine Paint.

Fourth, I gave the shovel a coating of the Dark Walnut Stain.

Finally, I took the strip of Muslin and tied it into a bow around the shovels handle.

Here it is all finished, how do you like it? I think this is one of my favorite patriotic craft projects in a while, and I’ve been making them for the last couple of weeks non stop! Everyone always asks why I keep old broken things, and this is exactly the reason! Sometimes they make the best projects! Do you think you’ll give this Patriotic Flag Shovel a try for yourself?
