Thrifted Sunflower Washboard Makeover

I absolutely love old washboards, and when I found this one at a thrift store, I knew I had to grab it. This one isn’t old, but it has the look of an old one and I knew I could give it a makeover without ruining an actual vintage washboard. I wanted something bright and fun, so I decided to I’ve this a sunflower theme. It is something that can be kept out all year, which is always a win! Please follow along with this Thrifted Sunflower Washboard Makeover, I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Supplies:

Thrifted Washboard
Yellow & White Paint
Antique Wax
Sunflower Napkin
Small Sunflowers – Hobby Lobby
Magnets
Sandpaper

First, I removed the top section of the washboard that had the writing on it, and gave it a coat of white paint.

Second, I used Mod Podge to secure the sunflower napkin down.

Third, I gave the entire frame of the washboard a coat of the yellow paint.

Fourth, I put the napkin covered piece back into the washboard.

Fifth, I lightly sanded around all of the edges of the washboard, then gave a coat of Antique Wax to those areas.

Sixth, I took the three small sunflowers I found at Hobby Lobby and glued a magnet to the back of each of them.

Finally, I placed the magnetic sunflowers the the metal part of the washboard.

Here it is all finished, how do you think it came out? I absolutely love this craft, it came out exactly how I thought it would when I found this washboard at the thrift store.
